Lingua Reader does not operate a server and does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to its developer.

That provider’s own privacy policy governs any data sent to it. The developer of Lingua Reader never sees or receives this data.
If you sign in with Google, your saved words, library metadata, cached translations, and reading position are stored in your own Google Drive account, in a private app-data area that only Lingua Reader can access and that does not appear in your normal Drive file list. This data is never sent to the developer or to any other party. Each category (library, saved words, cached translations, reading stats) can be turned off independently in Settings.
Saving a word or sentence to Anki uses AnkiDroid’s on-device integration (a local Android intent). No data leaves your device for this feature.
Lingua Reader offers two ways to look up a word or sentence:
Under the EU AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), Lingua Reader is a minimal/limited-risk AI use case - a translation and language-learning aid. It is not used for biometric identification or categorisation, emotion recognition, employment, credit, law enforcement, or any automated decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on a person, and it performs no profiling of its users.
Where the app uses generative AI (the optional AI-explain feature), the resulting content is labeled as AI-generated in the interface, in line with the Act’s transparency requirements for AI-generated content (Article 50). All other translation in the app is deterministic machine translation of existing text (on-device ML Kit, or DeepL/Azure/OpenRouter/your own server) rather than generated content, and is not subject to that labeling requirement.

Lingua Reader contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking software of any kind.
Lingua Reader is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age - see above.
